It starts with a Vision
When I have a vision (which is often), I need to paint, and I can't really explain that vision to someone else, especially in the early stages - it evolves as my work is layered and the story starts to unfold. My backgrounds often come from deep emotions, memories and experiences and sometimes it's my background (colours) which determines my subject and story.
How I paint and what I paint with purely depends on how or what I'm feeling and what ever I need to create the piece.
I am a self-taught Artist and have been painting since I was a child, experimenting more in my adult years which has given me my unique style as an Artist. My style is a real mix of traditional and abstract application whilst mixing different mediums with acrylic to create beautiful, movement-like effects - this gives me the ultimate flexibility as an Artist.
My work is bold, bright and colourful with a sense of class and cheekiness combined - this is very much who I am.
I love a challenge and so my broad range of surfaces in which I paint on, vary. From large wall murals to rejuvenating surfboards, wine barrels, canvases and papers - you name it - 'Greer can do that'
I would say that acrylic is my favourite medium. I love its flexibility, how quickly it dries, and how much it changes when you add other mediums, or dilute it (which creates a watercolour effect). I like how it dries quick (good for layering) and you can apply it to just about anything - I would say that almost 75% of my work is created using acrylic, often combined with other mediums, creating different results, making each piece super special.
Watercolour & Illustrations
As a Watercolour Artist and Illustrator I love to experiment with both, together - I let the watercolour work its often, unpredictable magic, then overlaying it with complete control of my unique illustration work. My style is not realism, it's unique, and simply a result of a vision that I have which is bought to life by a sense of unpredictable control.
